Job DescriptionPosition Description:
Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Core Shed Manager to join our Mineral Resource Management team.
The Core Shed Manager will provide support to staff geologists in both the underground and surface drilling and sampling campaigns through safe and efficient management of the core shed functions.
You will be responsible for leading one or more geology technicians in safe work practices, ensuring best in class core sampling procedures are followed and quality results are produced.
This role will engage with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis for the purpose of advancing drilling and sampling campaigns and will be responsible to conduct audits and inspections of work areas for Nevada Gold Mines employees and contractors in compliance of the Environmental, Health, and Safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Schedule, implement regular safety meeting in alignment with NGM's Journey to Zero Manage and provide clear leadership to the Cortez MRM sample processing staff at a processing and warehousing facility Supervision and training of one to several supporting staff technicians Maintenance, inspection, and care of the surface facility and associated mobile equipment Ensure safe, and timely sample pick up, delivery, collection, preparation, and dispatch Ensure quality control on core washing, photography, and splitting (rock saw) procedures Ensure routine equipment and vehicle maintenance is completed Ensure quality control data entry and validation for samples and measurements Stock control, procurement and inventory for supplies needed to support sampling procedures Submit work orders and requisitions Establish work priorities Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
5
years experience in core shed responsibilities (sample pick up, sample submittal, core photography, core splitting).
Capability of interfacing cross-departmentally within an active mining environment.
Competency in use of office software.
Exposure to drilling, assaying, down-hole survey practices.
Ability to support Geologists and consultants involved in geological projects, exploration, and near-mine development programs.
